The purpose of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church is to teach and preach the Word of God in its truth and purity in the River Falls area and to use time, talents, and treasure to spread the Kingdom of God throughout the world. The congregation
is a member of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS)
so named because its founders began their work in Wisconsin. Today, the WELS is represented throughout the United States and in many parts of the world.
Our church is a Bible
church. We accept all the 66 books of the Bible
as the Word of God. Reason, philosophy, tradition, or pious opinion are tools in service to the Word of God as we boldly confess to follow the teachings of the Bible alone. We believe that God has revealed himself in the Holy Bible. This book contains all a person needs to know for spiritual and eternal welfare. A person is saved by faith in Christ. Faith, through the power of the Holy Spirit, comes by hearing the Word of God. For this reason our church teaches the Word of God through many and varied means.
Our church is a conservative church. We continue to hold the entire Bible as the revelation of God. In it he has revealed himself, his will, and the only way to eternal life. We believe that God is three Persons in one Being: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the very Son of God and also truly human, born of the virgin Mary. We believe that by his death on the cross he has paid for the sins of the whole world. We believe in the second coming of the Son of God, who will raise up all the dead, take his followers to heaven, and reject forever those who have ignored or denied him.
Our church is an aggressive church. We are eager to spread the Gospel by every God-pleasing means. It is a growing church and for this growth gives all glory to God.
Our church is a giving church. The members of our church share their time, their love and their talents to support the Lord's work in their own church and beyond this parish. We also follow Christ's charge and example to care for those who are in need. We participate in visiting the sick, the grieving, and the lonely, in supporting schools and those in special need.
The strength of our church lies in the Word of God, to which we give unyielding obedience. Our church's beauty is found in the message of Christ's pardoning grace. Under God's blessing we can be a source of spiritual blessing to others.
It is for these reasons that you have become, or are considering becoming, a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church
