PRAYER OF THE DAY
Lord God, you know that we are surrounded by many dangers and that we often stumble and fall. Strengthen us in body and mind, and bring us safely through all temptations; through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

FIRST LESSON

Jeremiah was a prophet chosen by God even before he was born. As a true prophet he is sent by God to proclaim a message from God.

Our series of consecutive readings from 1 Corinthians continues. St. Paul explains that in response to the love which God has shown to us we are to show love to others. He then describes how this love will show itself in future generations.
GOSPEL

Jesus announces that he is The Great Prophet sent from God. Those who heard this testimony rejected him and tried to kill him.
