Prayer of the Day

Almighty God, you gave your one and only Son to be the light of the world. Grant that your people, illumined by your Word and sacraments, may shine with the radiance of Christ's glory, that he may be known, worshiped, and believed to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, now and forever. Amen

First Lesson

Isaiah 62:1-5

Sin brings destruction and desolation to God's people. When Jesus, the Lord of all, shines with his saving love, doom and gloom is changed to joy and gladness.

Second Lesson

1 Corinthians 12:1-11

This is the first of a series of readings from the later chapters of 1 Corinthians. The Spirit gives gifts to each believer. All enjoy the spiritual gift of faith in our Epiphany Lord, but each one is also given a different set of spiritual gifts.

Gospel Lesson

John 2:1-11

At the wedding in Cana, Jesus brought joy to the wedding couple who ran our of wine for their guests. He changed water into wine and revealed his glory as Lord of all.
