Although Jesus ascended, he does not leave us on our own. He continues to send the Spirit and to offer salvation full and free. We eagerly await his second and final coming when he will take us to himself in heaven. So we pray, â€œCome Lord Jesus.â€
The God who protected his elect in this life will certainly not abandon them in death and in the day of judgment. Those who lived in such lowliness, following in the footsteps of their Savior in his humiliation, will rise in triumph and live with him forever in glory. The fate of the damned, who do not know or who still despise his gracious Word, impels us to labor with all our might to bring them to the righteousness of the gospel. What a glorious special reward of grace awaits all those who thus labor! What a blessed added incentive to all, especially to pastors, to share the saving Word!

As he was in his humiliation, so are we in his kingdom on earth. Here there is lowliness like his before a petty and very temporary governor. Here there is little outward display of his power, little to see of his kingdom’s beauty. What then is there? There is the bearing witness to the truth! That’s what he did. That’s what we are called to do in following after him. That truth is all of his Word. Anything apart from it or contrary to it is a lie, is of the devil, is an attempt to snatch glory that is worldly and perishing. Only the truth of his Word brings us into his kingdom and keeps us there. Only bearing witness to that truth serves him, who bore witness to it for us and for our salvation.
Welcome to all worshipers of Jesus! By the Word, the example of Abraham, and the woman at Sychar this spiritual truth is pressed home today: the righteous are those who, called by grace, believe in the Promised Seed, Jesus Christ. To them the Lord credits faith as righteousness
Abram did not deserve Godâ€™s promises, but undeserved love sought him out. By grace, Abramâ€™s faith led him to leave his homeland and cling to Godâ€™s promise. Wherever he wandered, Abramâ€™s faith led him to continually worship his God.
November 1, 2015, Reformation, Pastor Clayton Welch. It should not surprise us that error runs rampant through the world and that both nature and nations are so often in chaos. For that is exactly what our Savior has foretold. Each error, each natural disaster, each country in turmoil should drive us to cling all the more tenaciously to his Word by which alone we are saved in the hour of judgment. For without his pure Word, there is only faithless error, fear and torment, and finally a total separation from grace in the day of judgment. To retain the Word in all of its truth and purity and then to share it, those are the goals of true children of the Reformation.

I rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last you have
renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you have
been concerned, but you had no opportunity to
show it. I am not saying this because I am in
need, for I have learned to be content whatever
the circumstances. I know what it is to be in
need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have
learned the secret of being content in any and
every situation, whether well fed or hungry,
whether living in plenty or in want.
