Note to our Website Visitors:
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the sudden passing
of our beloved Pastor, Paul M. Schmeling, on Monday, May 25, 2009. Busying
himself about the parsonage, he accidently fell, dying very quickly of the
resulting injuries. We are sad, of course -- but mostly for selfish reasons.
We will miss him dearly. Though it still seems difficult, in our hearts we
rejoice with him, having full confidence that he is now in the glorious
presence of our blessed Savior.

A Memorial Service, designed to help the many children of our congregation and
pre-school understand what happened to Pastor, was held on Friday, May 29, and
the Funeral Service was held on Saturday, May 30. Over these two days, more than
800 attendees were comforted by the Gospel -- the display of God's love for us in
the person and work of Jesus Christ, and the certainty of His promises, which are
ours by faith. These services were recorded, and posted online, at the following link:

The Lord's Supper
Tomorrow, we receive the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins in the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Please prepare in advance, through self-examination and confession, to receive this Sacrament. A helpful guide in this process is Luther's Table of Duties, from his Small Catechism. Applying it to oneself, probing one's many failings, reveals a deep need for the forgiveness conveyed through this means.
If you plan to visit us tomorrow, please understand that our congregation practices Close Communion -- a Biblical practice going all the way back to Apostolic times. We request that you arrive early and plan to speak with our Pastor before communing with us. Thank You.
